What this actually looks like for a contractor

Six accounts, what they looked like when they arrived, what changed, and how long it took. Numbers reported the way we'd want them reported to us.

How we report

Every number on this page is cost per booked job or something that leads to it. Not impressions, not clicks, not leads. A lead you didn't close cost you money rather than made you any.

Where a client asked to stay anonymous, we've named the trade and the market and left the company out. Where a result came from more than one service, we've said so rather than crediting whichever one we'd rather sell you.

Gulfline Roofing

71 daysto top three
3.4xcalls from Google
$0ad spend added

The situation

Ranked well within two miles of their office and nowhere else. Twenty years of jobs across the county and a Google profile that read like a one-man operation.

What we did

Rebuilt the profile categories, added town pages for the six areas they actually work, and put a review request into the handover process.

We'd been told for years that we needed to spend more. Turns out we needed to fix what was already there.

Cost per booked job cut by more than half

Bayshore Air

-58%cost per booked job
2.9xreplacement quotes
31%of spend recovered in month one

The situation

One campaign, one budget, repair and replacement competing for the same money. Repair won every time because the clicks were cheaper.

What we did

Split repair, replacement and maintenance into separate campaigns, built a negative keyword list, and moved budget with the weather instead of the calendar.

The first month was mostly them turning things off. I didn't love it at the time.

AI ReceptionistsPlumbing · St. Petersburg, FL

Stopped losing 4 in 10 after-hours calls

Ridgeway Plumbing

97%calls answered
#2LSA position, from #7
19extra jobs, first month

The situation

Two vans, no office staff, and a phone that rang out every evening and all weekend. Their Local Services Ads position had been sliding for months and nobody knew why.

What we did

Put an AI receptionist on overflow first, then first-line. Triage rules written so only genuine emergencies wake the owner.

It answers the drain calls at midnight so I don't have to. Position came back on its own after that.

Same traffic, twice the calls

Northbay Electric

2.1xcalls, same traffic
1.2smobile load, from 5.4s
44EV charger enquiries in 90 days

The situation

A site that looked good and converted badly. One page covering every service, licence number buried in an about page, and a five second load on mobile.

What we did

Rebuilt mobile-first with a page per job type, credentials on every page, and a dedicated EV charger page nobody in the market had.

The EV page pays for the whole site. We didn't even know people were searching for it.

A February campaign that filled a summer schedule

Sunward Pools

6builds booked from one campaign
118 daysaverage time from ad to signature
$61cost per qualified lead

The situation

Advertising in June, competing with everyone, for people who had already chosen a builder in February.

What we did

Moved the whole budget forward, built creative from finished builds, and ran a four month nurture instead of a seven day retargeting window.

They told me to spend the money in winter and I thought they'd lost it.

1,900 past customers, nobody had contacted since 2023

Kettle Creek Heating & Air

$47kfrom reactivation, first 60 days
23%of stale quotes revived
8 daysto first automation live

The situation

Eleven years of customer records and no follow-up of any kind. Quotes went out and were never chased.

What we did

Missed call text back first, then quote follow-up, then a reactivation campaign to the whole list. Three sequences, built one at a time.

The reactivation thing paid for two years of the retainer in about a month.

What isn't on this page

Every results page you have ever read is a selection. This one is too, and pretending otherwise would be the first dishonest thing on the site.

So, plainly: we have had accounts that didn't work. A roofer in a market with four national competitors outspending him ten to one. A plumber whose phone nobody answered, where no amount of traffic was going to help. We ended both rather than keep billing.

If you want to talk to a client who left, ask on the call and we'll give you a name.

Want to see what your own numbers look like?

Send us your business name and the towns you cover. We'll map where you actually rank and record a three to five minute video on what we'd change first. No call needed to get it.
